2024 Releases to Pre-Order Now
The best way to support authors is to pre-order their books. Bookmark this post for your next haul.
We might love spicy, fun romance stories about couples that fall in love on a Married at First Sight/Love is Blind/Amazing Race mashup but the best way to prove to publishers that we want an enemies-to-lovers book about a dog daycare owner and the accidental poodle owner/veteran is to pre-order the book.
Pre-orders are important because:
They are guaranteed orders. They help publishers scope interest and determine the size of print runs.
Pre-orders build buzz and encourage retailers (looking at you B&N) to place larger orders.
After release, pre-orders count in first week sales which helps authors climb the ranks on bestseller lists which leads to more sales.
Pre-orders really help Indie bookstores mitigate risks with guaranteed sales.
Where to pre-order:
While you can certainly pre-order from Jeff & friends to ensure a book’s presence in your mailbox on release day, consider placing an order with your local bookstore, purchasing through Bookshop.org*, or ThriftBooks.
A lot of romance authors will partner will their local indie store to offer signed copies that are often bundled with character art, and/or other book related paraphernalia for new releases. They often share these locations on their social channels and email lists, closer to the book’s publication.
You can also look for pre-order campaigns at retailers. For example, Barnes & Noble hosts a preorder campaign every few months that you can take advantage of and stock up every quarter.
Preorders make for happy little book surprises in your mailbox. Who wouldn’t want book surprises?
I know I do. Below you’ll find releases that are on my radar throughout 2024. I won’t spend a lot of time on these but do look forward to finding them in future library publications.
Happy Reading!
P.S. Sometimes buying every book is not feasible but you can always request a new release from your library, even before it’s released.
