Single-Parent FMC + Pining Superstar Musician: Love Lyric by Kristina Forest
A single mother finds her second HEA after grief in a pining pop R&B star.
Hi Librarygoer!
Happy Tuesday. Maybe? This week has already been a lot and I’m writing this from the past. I don’t have eloquent thoughts … just a TBR to work my way through.
I’m actually attending a romance book festival (Love Y’all Book Fest) locally in Atlanta next month and curated TBR to read from a few attending authors before I attend. I’ll be in those pages until I’m walking the conference halls with other romance books loving people.
One of the books that didn’t make it onto the TBR, because I read it in December, is the book I’m highlighting today, The Love Lyric by Kristina Forest. (Thank you to Berkley Romance for this gifted copy!)
This Week’s Highlight:
This story is the end of a series (but you can absolutely start here) that feels like the warmest of hugs.
Iris and Angel are both oldest siblings and used to doing for other people so seeing them choose themselves is just chef’s kiss. They are both at the top of their game, she’s a makeup marketing exec and he’s a superstar pop R&B artist, and constantly on the go. So, obviously the only way they can fall in love is forbidden love style on a work trip.
Here are the stats!
Note: If you purchase books linked here via Bookshop, I may receive a small commission.
Story Synopsis
TW: Grief (death of a spouse, historical)
Iris Greene met the love of her life at twenty-four, got pregnant and married…and then became a widow and a single mother all within the span of a year and a half. Now, after years of hustling, Iris is the director of partnerships at a beauty company and raising spunky six-year-old Calla by herself.
Pop R&B singer Angel Harrison has it made. He’s a successful musician and has just scored a brand ambassador deal with an emerging beauty company. But he’s still not fulfilled; he’s not producing songs he’s passionate about, and there’s a gaping hole in his love life. When he visits the Save Face Beauty office to kickstart his campaign, he’s delighted to see Iris, his stylist’s sister—the beautiful woman he’s secretly had a crush on for three years.
When they end up on a campaign tour across the US together, their obvious attraction makes it hard for them to stay away from each other—even though they are obviously out of sync.

Why I Loved It:
What an absolutely brilliant conclusion to a series! This hits all the feels. I tried to read slowly to savor it but I was only moderately successful at it because this was so good.
You have oldest siblings used to taking care of themselves choosing themselves, a man the subject of desire to screaming fans the world round—all the while pining for his dream girl. I love that Angel’s patience gives Iris time to open up to the possibility of loving again. It made when they did fall for each other so much sweeter.
Especially when they have to work together. For weeks. On the road. There’s the delicious tension of the will they won’t they, the complication of her not wanting to cross professional lines because he’s an ambassador for her company (which is recovering from a recent-ish scandal).
I also love that this book is a standalone. You can easily jump in here in the series and it will standalone as an emotional, sexy, beautiful story of two battered souls fighting their way to love.
Are you a fan of celebrity, workplace, or forbidden romance stores? Let me know if you’re anticipating this release!
I'm also a fan of single parent love stories and this one sounds so sweet! I'll definitely put this on my list☺️
